Foster care & Adoption

I want to be able to give insight into this area because this is our family. There are many resources out there but if you are interested in getting started in foster care you can do a variety of things.
First, you can contact your local county to join forces with their Children and Youth agency. They usually have a point person that handles all the information that goes along with being a foster parent. They can also tell you what would be the times for trainings and what you would need to get completed.
Second, you can contact a private agency. These are usually religious organizations that contract with the local county to provide the best service for hurting children. They also would have a point person to talk to and get the necessary information from.
There are many facets to being a foster parent as far as what age, their background, will you take in sibling sets or older children, respite care only and so on and so forth. This is something that only you can know. Know this~ there is ALWAYS a need it is up to you to CARE ENOUGH TO SHARE!

Here are some websites of interest...

www.adoptuskids.org

www.cobys.org
www.lcrpa.com
www.bethany.org
www.bethanna.org

This is just a short list of what is out there. I will post more in the future and add foster care and adoption books and other resources as well.
